Interbike, of course, is all about bikes. And a lot of the time we need to get our bikes from Point A to Point B using our vehicles. As always, a couple of things caught our eye on the Interbike floor: RockyMounts’ thru-axle fork mount and a novel new way of mounting a bike rack to your ride’s rooftop. Check out the video for Sea Sucker below.

RockyMounts was showing off its new thru-axle fork mount at Interbike — the Drive Shaft.

Though still not quite ready for final production, the fork mount will be compatible with both 20mm and 15mm axles in the clamshell-style system, and can be mounted to a standard fork-mount bike tray that uses a quick-release, or floor-mounted with the use of bolt-on bottom feet.

The 15mm option is executed via two high-friction rubber pads, which are claimed to make it almost impossible to unscrew an axle out of. The idea of the snug fit is to both keep a mounted bike from moving around during transport, and to deter theft when the provided keyed lock is used.

The Drive Shaft should be available in February, will retail for $64.95 and unlike RockyMounts usual array of colors, will only come in black.
