Sea Otter was kind in the weather department this year and, as always, offered up some interesting new innovations.

As the Classic is “Powered by SRAM,” the Chicago company uses it each year to introduce its new products. This year the major SRAM introduction is 2X10 drivetrains throughout its range of mountain bike groups from X7 through X9 and X0 to the XX group introduced in 2009. These groups will be shipping within a month. But saying “SRAM is about options,” marketing honch Michael Zellmann countered Shimano’s introduction at Sea Otter of 3X10 XT and SLX groups by saying that all of its new groups will also be available in 3X10 later in the summer.
