Rumor had it that the media hordes were going to be able to give the new Contour with integrated GPS a little spin at Outdoor Demo, but real-life stuff apparently kept it from happening.

We did, however, get a chance to swing by the Contour booth and get a quick glimpse of the new camera.

A few minor changes to the camera itself for 2011, short of obviously coming with GPS, are more a positive on/off switch and record switch, as well as a hinged door on the access panel. The new unit will also be able to snap still frame shots in addition to the usual movies. And new software is said to allow more user-friendly interface with both
movie management as well as GPS data organization.

Retail on the Contour GPS will be $349, and should be available sometime next month.  We’re hoping to get our greedy little hands on one next week though, so stay tuned.
