Don't miss a moment from Paris-Roubaix and Unbound Gravel, to the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a España, and everything in between when you join Outside+.
Giro’s Montaro is a great-looking lid, but that’s hardly what makes it a great choice for trail and enduro riders.
First off, the Roc Loc Air fit system remains best in class. It holds snugly and adjusts easily.
It’s also a fairly cool helmet, despite the presence of the MIPS liner within. 15 vents provide that cooling, and we’d be comfortable choosing this helmet for very warm, but maybe not the hottest, summer days.
The Montaro runs on the heavy side but also offers a MIPS liner, a long visor that lifts to accommodate goggles, and optional camera mount integration.
Coverage is also exceptional. The helmet sits low at the back of the head and on the sides. There was a little bit of interference with eyewear, but not enough to cause concern.
Count on the Montaro if you’re after an exceptionally comfortable helmet and a fit system that holds firmly over the most brain-shaking chatter. But if you’re concerned about weight, this may not be up your alley.
