Easton debuts new 35mm bar standard

Easton says they've developed the "strongest bar and stem combination ever" with their new Havoc line

Don't miss a moment from Paris-Roubaix and Unbound Gravel, to the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a España, and everything in between when you join Outside+.

Easton says they’ve developed the “strongest bar and stem combination ever” with their new Havoc line, which introduces a new 35mm clamp diameter standard. Deda currently has a 35mm standard road bar and stem, but Easton is the first to take the bigger size onto the dirt.

The move towards wider bars pushed Easton towards the new standard. “Simply making the existing bar wider would have compromised strength and weight, ” said Easton brand manager Dain Zaffke. “So our engineers completely redesigned the bar around a 35mm bar/stem clamp diameter.”

Width has been increased to 750-800mm, and the Havoc 35 Carbon bar is a claimed 15% stronger in impact testing, 10% stronger in fatigue testing, 21% stiffer and 10% lighter. It comes in at a claimed 220 grams, making it one of the lightest downhill bars on the market.
