The light and agile ASR Beti is a cross-country-cum-trail ripper for riders who crave the occasional trip down steep and gnarly trails. It’s Yeti’s lightest full suspension bike that shines on the climbs.
With 120 millimeters of travel up front and 102 millimeters in the rear, the ASR is generally light on travel, yet it feels at ease on loose, rocky terrain. Yeti opts for simplicity with a single-pivot suspension design rather than the more complex Switch Infinity. This helps keep the weight down on the already lightweight ripper.
SRAM Eagle’s massive gear range also makes spinning up steep climbs feel easy. A 30-tooth single chainring paired with 10-50 cassette was the perfect combination for Colorado’s steep, rocky terrain. The bike’s forward geometry also helps with its climbing prowess, pushing the rider forward for a powerful pedaling position.
While it’s billed as a cross-country bike, Yeti implements some slack geometry specs that make the ASR a more confident and capable descender. A 69.1-degree head tube angle provides enough slack for high-speed descents without pushing your weight too far forward. But it’s still a quick handler, making fun work of whipping around on tight singletrack.
We tested Yeti’s second tier “Carbon” frame design, which adds a bit of weight compared to the top of the line Turq option. But this also helps keep the price competitive for a seriously fun cross-country ride.
