LUXEMBOURG (AFP) – Wout Poels (Vacansoleil) won the third stage in the Tour of Luxembourg Saturday – the first win of the year for the 25-year-old Dutch rider.

Poels broke free with two RadioShack-Nissan riders, Dane Jakob Fuglsang and native Luxembourger Frank Schleck, who rounded out the podium respectively.

Fuglsang also climbed to the top of the general classification. Jimmy Engoulvent (Saur-Sojasun), who wore the yellow jersey since winning the Wednesday prologue, dropped out of the top five overall.

Poels jumped to second on GC, three seconds back, followed by Schleck at five seconds.

Stage 3 was the Queen stage of this year’s tour, covering 205km from Eschweiler to Differdanger, and the race concludes tomorrow with a 153.5km route from Mersch to Luxembourg.
