Kirsten Wild extended her hold on the Ladies Tour of Qatar Friday, winning the final stage in Doha Corniche and the overall in the four-stage event. Wild (Giant-Shimano) landed her third stage win of the week in a bunch sprint after 85 kilometers.
Former world champion Giorgia Bronzini (Wiggle-Honda) was second and Melissa Hoskins (Orica-AIS) was third. The stage win marked Wild’s ninth career victory in the six-year-old race in Qatar.
With the stage win and time bonus, Wild extended her overall advantage to 22 seconds over teammate Amy Pieters and to 36 seconds over third-place finisher Chloe Hosking (Hitec Products).
Wild also won the Qatari event in 2009, 2010, and 2013.
