Cervélo will bring star riders Carlos Sastre and Thor Hushovd to the Vuelta a España later this month.

Sastre will be hunting for a fourth career podium finish while Hushovd will aim for stage victories while honing his form ahead of the world championships in Australia.
The team released a list of 11 riders of which nine will be selected to race the season’s third grand tour.
“Our team is very motivated and hungry to achieve the best results possible in the Vuelta a España. It will be the ‘home race’ for several of our riders and certainly, beside the World Championships, the highlight of the late season,” said Philippe Mauduit, Cervélo sport director. “Our goal for the Vuelta is to have a stage win and go for the podium with Carlos Sastre, who ended already three times on the podium (second in 2005 and 2007 and third in 2008). The course is ideal for him and we will bring a strong team to support him.”
Joining Hushovd and Sastre should be veteran Iñigo Cuesta, who, at 41, will be starting his 17th Vuelta. Cuesta will likely start with the No. 1 bib in Sevilla on August 28.
Also likely to get a nod will be Dutch sprinter Theo Bos, who has won four races this season, each of them on Spanish roads.
Dominique Rollin, the Canadian who started last year’s Vuelta with Cervélo, is not on the preliminary start list.
