Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas) won a tough 19th edition of the Trofeo Melinda on Saturday.

Nibali overpowered Vladislav Borisov (Amore e Vita) and Italian national champion Giovanni Visconti (ISD-Neri) to win the 194km race in four hours, 49 minutes. Only 43 of the 115 starters made it to the finish.

Tom Danielson (Garmin-Transitions) was the top American, finishing eighth in the same time as the winner.
