Stage 20: Cérilly to Saint-Amand-Montrond, 53km
Weather: Hot and humid with partly cloudy skies and moderate wind, temperatures in the mid 80s.
Stage winner: Gerolsteiner’s Stefan Schumacher proved he was the strongest time trialist at this Tour, winning both the 29km stage 4 TT and Saturday’s 53km effort. World time trial champion Fabian Cancellara finished second, 21 seconds back.
Yellow jersey: Race leader Carlos Sastre (CSC-Saxo Bank) held his overall lead. Sastre yielded only 29 seconds to Australian Cadel Evans (Silence-Lotto), who now sits second overall, 1:05 down.
Green jersey: Schumacher was awarded 15 points for the stage win. Rabobank’s Oscar Freire will enter Paris in the green jersey, with 244 points to Erik Zabel’s 202 points and Thor Hushovd in third at 198.
King of the Mountains: No climbing points were awarded. Gerolsteiner’s Bernhard Kohl has secured this year’s KOM jersey, as well as third overall.
Most aggressive rider: No award on the stage. However, Cofidis rider Sylvain Chavanel was named most aggressive rider of this year’s Tour de France.
Best young rider: Columbia’s Thomas Lovkvist was the best under-25 rider on the stage, finishing 11th on the stage. CSC-Saxo Bank’s Andy Schleck, who finished 1:33 behind Lovkvist, leads Roman Kreuziger of Liquigas by 1:17.
Team GC: Gerolsteiner was the top team on the stage, with a combined time of 3:16:10, leading Garmin-Chiptole by 38 seconds. CSC-Saxo Bank leads the team competition, 15:49 ahead of Ag2r-La Mondiale. In third is Rabobank, at 1:05:33.
Top American: Christian Vande Velde (Garmin-Chipotle) was the top American on the stage, finishing fourth, and moved into fifth-place overall.
Lanterne rouge: Wim Vansevenant (Silence-Lotto) returned to his position as the rider furthest from the race lead. The Belgian now sits 3:54:51 behind Sastre.
The peloton: No riders abandoned or missed the time cut. The peloton is now made up of 145 riders.
Medical report: No injuries reported.
Jury report: No fines or warnings were issued.
Sunday’s forecast: Mostly sunny, high of 84 degrees.
