The Denver Post: Danielson looks set for Tour debut
Tom Danielson, 33, looks set for a Tour de France debut. Although Garmin-Cervélo has yet to officially reveal its Tour Nine, The Denver Post is reporting that the Coloradan will ride his first Tour this summer.
“I honestly don’t know what it means to me,” Danielson told the paper. “I’m a pro. I focused a lot on being at a high level. I just want to continue doing my job and reach the highest level possible. On the last day of the Tour, I’ll tell you what it means to me.”
Sydney Morning Herald: Rogers to miss Tour
A long-running bout with glandular fever has knocked Michael Rogers (Team Sky) out of this year’s Tour de France, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. Rogers, 31, said he missed a key block of training and told team personnel he won’t be up to the task of meeting the demands of the Tour. ”
”It’s only (10 days) away. Unfortunately I have to skip it,” Rogers told the Australian daily. ”It’s a bit premature to say what my program is at the moment but the Vuelta is an option. The Tour is the highlight for everyone’s year. But in 2008 I did a similar thing — I skipped the Tour [due to the same illness] — and came back and had a successful end of the season.”
