With the cobblestones on tap for the Tour de France, it’s no surprise that classics strongman Tom Boonen will be leading the charge for Quick Step during the 2010 edition.

Boonen will be looking to add to his haul of six career Tour stage-wins and a green jersey, and will be taking special aim at stage 3 over the bumpy cobblestones of northern France.

Boonen went winless in last year’s Tour and abandoned in the third week. So far this year, he’s won three races, including a stage at Tirreno-Adriatico, and notched second-place podiums at Milan-San Remo, GP Harelbeke and Tour of Flanders.

Joining Boonen will be recent Giro d’Italia stage-winner Jerome Pineau, French star Sylvain Chavanel and Spanish stage-hunter Carlos Barredo.

Kevin Seeldrayers, winner of last year’s best young rider’s jersey in the 2009 Giro, will lead a quartet of Tour newbies.
