Results

Much has been made of the fact that, at 3272.3 kilometers, this 89th edition of the Tour de France is the fourth shortest in history, and the shortest since 1905. However, the 1988 Tour, which measured 3281.5 kilometers, had 22 stages, not 20 — so the average stage distance this year is actually longer. Starting in Luxembourg with the 7.3-kilometer prologue on July 6 and ending on the Champs-Elysées in Paris on July 28, the 2002 Tour features 10 flat stages, one semi-mountainous stage, six high-mountain stages, three individual time trials and a team time trial. You can find the complete details of every stage and the prologue right here on VeloNews.com.
