Svendsen wins world junior time trial title; Defending Schmidt eighth

VALKENBURG, Netherlands (AFP) — Norway’s Oskar Svendsen won the men’s world junior time trial title on Monday.

The 18-year-old finished seven seconds better than Slovenia’s Matej Mohoric with Germany’s Maximilian Schachmann third, at 11 seconds off the pace, after the 26.6km race.

Defending champion Mads Schmidt of Denmark finished eighth.

T.J. Eisenhart was the top American, finishing 10th at 26 seconds.
