Shelley Olds (Tibco) and Elia Viviani (Cannondale) won the Tour of Elk Grove on Sunday.
Kimberley Wells (Fearless Femme-Pure Energy) took the flowers in the final women’s stage, an eight-lap circuit race. Wells sprinted to victory ahead of Olds and Joelle Numainville (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies).
But Olds’s runner-up finish in the final was good enough to take the overall title in 3:54:56, three seconds ahead of Numainville, with Alison Powers (Now-Novartis) third at 11 seconds.
Viviani went Olds one better — after winning Saturday’s stage-2 road race, he turned around on Sunday and did it again, winning the final 140km circuit race and taking the overall victory to boot.
Viviani out-kicked Ryan Anderson (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) and Charles Huff (Jelly Belly-Kenda) for the stage win. Once GC was tallied, he had the overall by six seconds ahead of Anderson and nine over John Murphy (UnitedHealthcare).
