American Coryn Rivera sprinted to victory in stage 7, the final stage of Thüringen Rundfahrt in Gera, Germany on Thursday.
The 23-year-old UnitedHealthcare rider got the better of Wiggle – High 5’s Amy Pieters, who was followed home by Cervelo – Bigla’s Nicole Hanselman. This stage of Thüringen Rundfahrt has been a happy hunting ground for Rivera, as she won in Gera last year, when it was the finish for stage 5.
The result bodes well for Rivera who will race La Course by the Tour de France on Sunday on the Champs-Élysées.
Italian Elena Cecchini (Canyon – SRAM) won the overall in the seven-day race by a healthy 2:58 margin ahead of Amanda Spratt (Orica – AIS). Ellen van Dijk (Boels – Dolmans) was third on GC.
