Raphael Gagne (Rocky Mountain Factory) and Laura Van Gilder (Van Dessel-Mellow Mushroom) won round one of the Full Moon Vista Ellison Park Cyclocross on Saturday.

The UCI C2 races were run on a grassy, hilly 3km circuit in Rochester, New York.

Gagne won the men’s race ahead of Zack McDonald (Rapha-Focus) with Anthony Clark (JAM Fund-NCC) third.

“It went pretty well,” Gagne said. “I felt strong. I’m usually stronger on day two.”

In women’s racing, Van Gilder took the victory ahead of Maureen Bruno Roy (Bob’s Red Mill-Seven Cycles) and Natasha Elliott (Rare Vos Racing-Stevens).

Racing continues with round two on Sunday.
