Katerina Nash (Luna) continued her winning streak on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa, winning a cold day at Jingle Cross. From the gun, the multi-discipline Czech Olympian was off the front, and she was never really challenged for the win.
This is her sixth consecutive win, having doubled-up at the Derby City Cup in Louisville, Kentucky the weekend prior and claimed wins Friday and Saturday at Cincy3 in Cincinatti, Ohio. She did not race the third and final day in Ohio, as she was not eligible to start the Pan American Championships due to her European citizenship.
Behind, another European ex-pat, Caroline Mani (Raleigh-Clement) was second, after battling Courtnay McFadden (GE Capital) for the first couple of laps. McFadden held off Maghalie Rochette (Luna) for third.
In the elite men’s event, Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) won with a comfortable 32-second lead over up-and-comer Stephen Hyde (JAM Fund). Logan Owen (California Giant-Specialized) came home another 24 seconds in arrears to round out the podium.
Powers is one of the founders of the JAM Fund development team, and was clearly pleased to share the podium with one of his charges. “Great racing @JingleCross today jamfund rider @stephenthyde got 2nd today, making it an unforgettable …” he tweeted after the race.
