Marianne Vos (Netherlands) took her second win in the Giro Donne Wednesday’s stage 6, a rolling 116km route from Gallarate to Arcisate.

Vos, Judith Arndt (HTC-Columbia), and Olga Zabelinskaya (Safi Pasta Zaro) separated from the field in the uphill finale. Arndt started the sprint but was overtaken by Vos in the closing meters. Zabelinskaya held on for third.
World champion Tatiana Guderzo (Team Valdarno) led a decimated field across the line eight seconds behind. Over half the field came in eleven minutes later, having split off from the leaders on the early climbs.
Americans Mara Abbott (US National Team), Evelyn Stevens (HTC-Columbia) and Amber Neben (US National Team) all made the split, and remain in eighth, ninth and 13th on GC.
“Today the steep but short climbs make a hard and selective race again,” said US team director Manel Lacambra after the race. “We were saving our leaders again, for the next three hard stages. Tomorrow will be time for the climbers start, and our team is ready for it.”
