Locals double at San Luis with Guevara win, Diaz lead

Tejay van Garderen sits second overall, 17 seconds back, with two days of racing remaining

Emmanuel Guevara (San Luis Somos Todos) won stage 5 of the Tour de San Luis on Friday. Guevara won solo on the uphill finish at Carolina, Argentina.

Guevara’s teammate, Ricard Diaz, was second.

Miguel Angel Rubiano (Androni Giocattoli) won a six-man sprint for third.

Diaz took the overall lead, moving to 17 seconds ahead of American Tejay van Garderen (BMC Racing), who finished in the Rubiano group, which also included Alberto Contador (Saxo-Tinkoff), at 1:21 back.

The Tour de San Luis continues Saturday with the 156km sixth stage, which finishes on the Cat. 1 climb to Mirador del Sol.
