Kreder wins again for Garmin; Modolo assumes Sarthe lead

Dutchman wins stage, Modolo assumes overall lead in first of two stages Wednesday

Michel Kreder (Garmin-Barracuda) kicked to victory in Wednesday’s morning stage at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France to give him his third win on the 2012 season.

Kreder knocked back Sacha Modolo (Colnago-CSF Inox) to win the 87.8km stage into Angers. Modolo grabbed the race leader’s jersey after overnight leader and winner of stage 1 Denis Galimzyanov (Katusha) crashed on a rain-marred final circuit.

The race continues this afternoon with a 6.8km individual time trial.

The victory is Kreder’s third of the year, who also won two stages and finished second overall at the Tour Mediterranéen to open the season in France in February.
