Peraud finishes second on the final, crucial stage to secure the overall victory by a single second

Jean-Christophe Peraud (Ag2r La Mondiale) took the overall title in the Criterium International on Sunday.

Mathias Frank (IAM Cycling) won the final stage atop the Col de l’Ospedale. But Peraud finished second ahead of Tiago Machado (NetApp-Endura) to take the final yellow jersey from Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Shimano), who fell off the pace in the final kilometers and crossed more than two minutes in arrears.

Frank finished second overall, just one second behind Peraud, with Machado third at 19 seconds.

“I have a sense of duty accomplished,” said Peraud. “The Criterium International was a little more open this year, and it it was an opportunity not to be missed.”

Next on his calendar, says Peraud, is the Tour of the Basque Country, “a race that I love.”
