Jamey Driscoll, Rachel Lloyd win Waves for Water kickoff in Tacoma

Jamey Driscoll (Raleigh-Clement) and Rachel Lloyd (California Giant-Specialized) took the flowers on Saturday during day one of the Waves for Water Cyclocross Collaboration near Tacoma, Washington.
Lloyd took the hole shot at the Marymount Event Center and got away with Amanda Miller (Boulder Cycle Sport-Yogaglo) and Courtenay McFadden (GE Capital-American Classic).
The trio stayed together for three laps, and then Lloyd went it alone to win by eight seconds over Miller with McFadden third.
In the men’s race Cal Giant’s Logan Owen attacked from the gun only to be joined by Driscoll and teammate Ben Berden.
They kept Owen on the front during the first half of the race, and then a one-two punch from the Raleigh-Clement duo put the Cal Giant rider away.
In the end, Driscoll came out on top, crossing the line with a small gap over Berden. Owen hung on for third.
The Waves for Water Cyclocross Collaboration continues Sunday with round two at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood.
