MADRID (AFP) — Jonathan Hivert (Sojasun) followed up his victory in Monday’s first stage by winning the second
stage of the Vuelta Andalucía Ruta Ciclista del Sol (Tour of Andalusia) on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old once again prevailed in a sprint, this time ahead of Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) and Francesco Lasca (Caja Rural), second and third respectively, at the end of the 194.2-kilometer ride from Trebujena to Montilla.

Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) retained the overall lead by a margin of seven seconds over Juergen Van den Broeck (Lotto-Belisol).

Wednesday’s third and final stage will take the peloton 182.7 kilometers from Lucena to Rincon de la Victoria.
