BRUSSELS (AFP) — The funeral of Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt, killed in a crash on the Tour of Italy, will take place next Wednesday, May 18, in his home town of Ghent, his Leopard-Trek team announced Thursday.
The 26-year-old, who was due to become a father for the first time in September, died instantly after a crash on the twisting descent of the Bocco mountain pass around 25km from the finish line on Monday’s third stage.
His team subsequently pulled out of the race.
