The 2011 Giro d’Italia begins Saturday with a 19.3km team time trial from Venaria Reale to Torino.

The 23 teams will leave at four-minute intervals, starting with the Omega Pharma-Lotto team, which will roll out of the start house at 3:50 p.m. local time (9:50 a.m. Eastern Time in the United States). Teams’ finishing times are calculated based on the time of the fifth rider to cross the line, although team members finishing behind that fifth rider will have their actual finishing times applied to stage and overall standings.
