Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin withdrew from the Giro d’Italia during Wednesday’s stage 11.
The Giant – Alpecin rider has been suffering from saddle sores and was forced to pull over 95 kilometers into the 229km stage from Modena to Asolo.

Dumoulin won the stage 1 time trial in The Netherlands and wore the leader’s pink jersey during stages 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Dumoulin is now expected to focus on getting ready for this summer’s Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
