Elia Viviani (Cannondale) and Joelle Numainville (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) were the victors in stage 2 of the Tour of Elk Grove on Saturday.

Men raced a 155km road stage while women tackled a 73km criterium.

In the men’s race, Viviani prevailed in a sprint over Ryan Anderson (Optum) and John Murphy (UnitedHealthcare).

Numainville likewise won a bunch dash to the line ahead of Tibco teammates Shelly Olds and Joanne Kiesanowski.

Murphy now leads the men’s general classification by one second over Viviani with Anderson third at three seconds. Alison Powers (Now-Novartis) heads the women’s GC, tied on time with runner-up Olds and third-placed Numainville.

The Tour of Elk Grove wraps up Sunday with a 140km circuit race for men and an eight-lap circuit race for women.
