American Allie Dragoo claimed her first major victory of the season at the Energiewacht Tour Friday, out of a breakaway in the 131.8km stage 3 from Musselkanaal to Stadskanaal, Netherlands.
Dragoo, part of the Twenty16 – Sho-Air team, is riding the five-stage race with the U.S. national team. Hitec’s Julie Leth was second, and another American, Gretchen Stumhofer, finished third.
Chantal Blaak of Boels – Dolmans kept her overall lead after finishing with the peloton, which was two minutes behind the leader. Dragoo now sits 16th overall, top American, ahead of Saturday’s split stage, which is a 75.4km road race followed by a 13.6km TT.
