Sylvain Chavanel pulled the double in De Panne, Belgium, on Thursday, winning the final-stage time trial and taking the overall prize at VDK Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde (Three Days of De Panne).
Chavanel (Omega Pharma-Quick Step), the defending De Panne champion, bested the day’s long leader, Anton Vorobyev (Katusha), in the 14.75-kilometer individual test by 19 seconds.
The overall leader after Thursday’s morning stage, Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) finished 32 seconds down on Chavanel to cede his leader’s jersey.
“I’ve been feeling pretty good for quite a while now. I’m getting better and better every day,” said Chavanel. “I’m happy to win for a second time here.”
