Giorgia Bronzini (Wiggle Honda) is nearly perfect in France.
The Italian won the third stage of the Route de France on Tuesday, her third straight victory this week at the eight-day women’s professional race. Her only “blemish” is a 66th-place result in the opening prologue.
Bronzini beat Emma Johansson (Orica-AIS) and Elizabeth Armitstead (Boels Dolmans) in a bunch sprint to capture victory in the 123.6-kilometer stage from Anet to Mamers.
Johansson, who took the race lead after Saturday’s prologue, remains in front. One second behind her is Linda Melanie Villumsen (Wiggle Honda), with Amy Pieters (ARW) another tick behind in third.
American Evelyn Stevens (U.S. National Team), who won the race in 2012, finished 17th on Tuesday and is fourth overall, five seconds behind Johansson.
The race resumes Wednesday with stage 4, a 140km route from Cloyes sur le Loir to Briare.
