Lars Boom (Rabobank) and Daphny van den Brand claimed the elite titles at the Dutch cyclocross championships on Sunday in Heerlen, the Netherlands.

Boom collected his second consecutive elite title by outsprinting Gerben de Knegt, who crossed two seconds later. Thijs Al finished third, a further second behind.

The 24-year-old Dutch champion said afterward that he would not contest the world championships later this month in the Czech Republic and would instead concentrate on the upcoming road season.

In the women’s race, meanwhile, Van den Brand won her 11th title by finishing eight seconds ahead of sprint world champion Marianne Vos. Sanne Van Paassen took third at 2:46.
