André Greipel (HTC-Columbia) won stage 6 of the Eneco Tour of Benelux on Monday.
Greipel out-sprinted Jurgen Roelandts (Omega Pharma-Lotto) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) at the end of the 205.6km stage to take the victory in Heers, Belgium.
HTC-Columbia kept the bunch on a tight leash for race leader Tony Martin as they raced through the Belgian Ardennes from Bilzen to Heers. Four riders — Mario Aerts (Omega Pharma), Stijn Devolder (Quick Step), Tiago Machado (Team RadioShack) and Romain Sicard (Euskaltel-Euskadi) — tried an escape on the Mur d’Amay, 30km from the line, but the move came to naught. Then Lars Boom (Rabobank) and Gert Steegmans (Team RadioShack) attacked with 5km to race, only to be stifled as well.
Martin retains the overall lead going into Tuesday’s finale, a 16.9km individual time trial in Genk.
