Amy Pieters wins women’s Dwars door Vlaanderen
Liv-Plantur team claims first- and second-place finishes in Waregem with Pieters and Mackaij

Not to be outdone by Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise, team Liv-Plantur also went one-two at Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday, with Amy Pieters taking the win ahead of teammate Floortje Mackaij.
For Pieters, it was her second straight win at the women’s midweek Belgian semi-classic, also known as the Grote Prijs van Waregem.
“We tried to make it an aggressive race so we kept pushing for the small breakaways,” Pieters said on the team website. “In the end it was very small, with just Floortje and I. Even after a good training yesterday I still felt good today, and it was a nice team performance.”
Liv-Plantur was active in the early breakaway as well, placing Sabrina Stultiens and Julia Soek in the move. After that break was caught, Pieters and Mackaij went on the attack, riding off the front together for the final 25km.
Christina Siggaard (Matrix) finished third at the end of the 77km circuit race around Waregem, Belgium.
