First Look: Roka GP-1 sunglasses

Editor’s note: Roka is sponsoring our coverage of the 2018 Crusher in the Tushar. Managing editor Chris Case wore Roka’s GP-1 sunglasses during the race on July 14.

The GP-1 was created with direct input from some of the best WorldTour riders to solve the problems they face in extreme race conditions. Built to withstand the rigors of Paris-Roubaix yet versatile enough for the backroads in your part of the world, the lower rim adds security and maximum protection from anything the ground can throw at you. The GP-1 is incredibly light, with an unrestricted field of view.

Roka lenses boast advanced coatings that are applied in an ultra-clean manufacturing process that ensures consistency. Each coating is applied, cured, and tested for purpose-built performance and transmission. Each lens is coated, custom-built for the “as worn” position, and cut to specific geometry. Critical performance coatings include front and back-side hydro-oleophobic coatings to keep moisture of any kind from sticking on the lens; front and back-side anti-scratch protection; a multi-layer anti-reflective back-side coating; an anti-fog ri-pel coating on the back of the lens; and a multi-layer mirror coating.

Roka GP-1 features

  • The lens is easily removable and interchangeable with additional Roka accessory lens options
  • The lens lock tab provides a simple guide for making sure the lens is securely seated
