Fox News reports that a 38-year-old mountain biker was attacked and killed by a grizzly bear Wednesday while riding near Glacier National Park in Montana.

Brad Treat and a second person were riding in the Halfmoon Lakes area of the Flathead National Forest when they encountered the bear. According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, the two apparently surprised the animal and it killed Treat, who was a law-enforcement officer with the U.S. Forest Service.

According to Fox News, prior to this week, there had been 10 bear-related human deaths in Glacier National Park since it was created in 1910.
