Assos’s women’s bibs are packed with plush details, like silky smooth materials and perfectly placed leg hems that create the cleanest looking bibs that we’ve seen. The bibs are made with Assos’s type.439 material that offers a bit more compression than the company’s previous women’s bibs and shorts models. This not only adds to the sleek overall look, but the compression also helps muscles stay fresher, longer on tough rides.
The chamois borrows from the men’s T.equipe.S7 shorts, but it’s re-cut for a women’s specific fit and it is impressively comfortable for long days in the saddle. This women’s chamois was first introduced in Assos’s non-bib H.Laalalaishorts_S7 shorts last year, but we’re happy to see this technology presented in a bib platform as well this year.
The most striking component of the bibs is the magnetic clasp on the front of the straps that keeps bathroom breaks quick and easy. Using a mono-bib strap design — one center strap that travels up the torso and splits around the sternum — the clasp allows you to lift the upper portion of the straps up and over your head so you can drop the backside of the shorts without removing all of your top clothing layers. While the magnet works great and is an inspiring concept, we’ve never found the mono-bib strap style to be very comfortable.
