Preview: 2015 Tour de France — Stage 2

Utrecht to Zeeland, The Netherlands (166km)

Sunday, July 5 | 7:50 a.m. EST – 11:40 a.m. EST

This stage could go one of two ways. It could either take place under tranquil conditions, without the slightest breath of wind, and the whole pack will come barrelling into the final straight at 45 miles per hour. Or, the wind will be gusting and we will see superb racing, with no team able to take control; this could catch plenty of riders out. You can guess what the organizers are hoping for: wind and echelons. That’s why they’ve routed the final 40 kilometers along the seacoast, including a passage across three dikes, with the finish located at the end of the third. The aerial images will be impressive, especially as the turnout by Dutch fans should be as big as it was in Yorkshire. Watch for the team from The Netherlands, LottoNL-Jumbo, to go on the attack. TDF15_ETAP 02_PROFIL 3D
