Tarbes to La Pierre-Saint-Martin (167km)
Tuesday, July 14 | 6:35 a.m. EST – 11:00 a.m. EST
Stage 10 offers a complete change of scenery: After the woodlands of Brittany and a rest day in Pau, the peloton is suddenly confronted with the first mountain stage. This is a radical switch, due to the fact that rules now require the Tour not to exceed 3,500km over the course of its three weeks. There are 167km on the menu on this stage through the Pyrenees. First, there is a long warm-up of 145 kilometers before a steep climb to the finish, on the top of the Soudet pass. It’s a tough climb, with the highest percentages coming early on in the ascent. Inevitably, the climbers, who have been waiting for this moment for 10 days, will go on the attack.
