The Rabobank rider overhauls overnight leader Svein Tuft (Orica-GreenEdge) in the finale to take the overall
GERAARDSBERGEN, Belgium (AFP) — Lars Boom (Rabobank) emerged as the winner of the Eneco Tour of the Low Countries after Sunday’s seventh and final stage.
Boom finished second in the finale behind Alessandro Ballan (BMC Racing Team) in the final stage from Maldegem to Geraardsbergen in Belgium. Francisco Ventoso (Movistar) took third on the day.
In the end, Boom erased a four-second deficit to overnight leader Svein Tuft (Orica-GreenEdge) to seal the overall victory. Sylvain Chavanel (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) took second at 26 seconds with teammate Niki Terpstra third at 49 seconds.
Tuft slid to seventh overall at a minute down.
