The USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships will be held in Fort Collins, Colorado, this weekend, May 7-10. For the second year in a row, Colorado State University, in partnership with the Fort Collins Cycling Festival, will host student athletes from up to 60 colleges and universities.

Participants will compete to win one of 18 national titles. Individuals will aim to snag titles in the criterium, road race, and individual omnium while teams will be looking for wins in the team time trial and overall team omnium, which combines results from all three races, both male and female.

Last year, the Division I team omnium was won by Lees-McRae College, edging Colorado State University and Fort Lewis College. Needless to say, Lees-McRae is certainly looking for a repeat to last year’s victory. The Massachusetts Institute of technology will be looking to defend their 2008 Division II team omnium victory over Dartmouth.

Collegiate National Championships for the women will once again serve as a qualifier for the Ryan Collegiate All Stars — a female team that will include the top six riders from the final omnium. This composite team will earn an invitation to the Nature Valley Grand Prix in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 10-14. Not only will this team be invited, but they will receiving housing, a travel stipend, clothing, and the direction of a team manager.
