LIBERTY SEGUROS
HERAS READY TO STEP UP? The former ONCE team has a new
sponsor, a new look and a new leader in Roberto Heras. The question is, after
working for Lance Armstrong at Postal for the past three Tours, can Heras
return to the leadership role that earned him fifth place at the 2000 Tour?
He’ll have the support of strong time trialists like Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano,
Jan Hruska and Isidro Nozal, along with his former Postal teammate Christian
Vande Velde — who rode so strongly for Heras at the 2002 Vuelta. Heras will
need to be on his best-ever climbing form if he’s going to gain the time he’ll
need to overcome his inevitable losses in the Besançon time trial.
