GEROLSTEINER
SPRINTING STRENGTH In its second year at the Tour, this German
team has strengthened its forces with the addition of sprinter Danilo Hondo,
who has been enjoying an excellent season so far. He will have plenty of
help from team workers like Michael Rich and Uwe Peschel, and the Zberg
brothers. And should Olaf Pollack ride the Tour after his strong Giro,
Gerolsteiner could well surprise the established sprinters. For GC, the Austrian
Georg Totschnig will be trying to break into the top 10, while climber Sven
Montgomery may return to the Tour three years after the horrendous crash
that ended his promising first Tour.
