2004 Team
CSC

ALL-AROUND STRENGTH
Team boss Bjarne Riis may have lost Tyler Hamilton, but he recruited well over the winter to get Ivan Basso, 26, as his top GC rider alongside Carlos Sastre, while newcomers Bobby Julich, Jens Voigt and Michele Bartoli all add strength to CSC’s chances of winning stages. The team time trial is a particular goal, while the team prize could well go to CSC for the second year in a row. If Basso is to improve on his seventh place of 2003, he’ll need all the help he can get in the mountains from Austrian Peter Luttenberger, Julich and Sastre.
