Friedman has distinguished himself as a track racer, most recently winning a gold medal in the scratch race in last December’s World Cup event at the new Olympic velodrome in Beijing. A member of the Garmin-Chipotle team, Friedman – known as “meatball” to his teammates – has also pursued a solid road career, riding in his first edition of Paris-Roubaix this past spring. Friedman will team up with Bobby Lea in the Madison in Beijing this month.
