FEATURES

TOUR OF SWITZERLAND

From one Vladimir to another, Caisse d’Epargne brought home the win. Going into the final day’s time trial, Vladimir Elmkin held the jersey, but it was Vladimir Karpets who put in the solid ride to vault from third place into the Final jersey.

NATURE VALLEY GRAND PRIX

The Nature Valley Grand Prix favors a certain type of rider — one who is fast to the line, able to cover attacks, and comfortable with slim advantages; this year Ivan Stevic showed he has the right stuff.

MONT-STE-ANNE

Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjå and Julien Absalon have long ruled the international cross-country roost. Absalon won at Mont-Ste-Anne, but Dahle-Flesjå was absent — and five women battled to take her place.

TOUR DE BEAUCEPB

North of the Vermont border, among the rolling hills of the Québec countryside, Navigators Insurance had its Day at the 22nd Tour de Beauce.

DEER VALLEY NMBS

With European-approved courses and a motivated chamber of commerce, Deer Valley Resort could very well become the next American host for a World Cup. This year Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Georgia Gould came out on top in the fifth round of the National Mountain Bike Series held outside of Park City, Utah.

DAUPHINÉ LIBÉRÉ

Christophe Moreau tested his Tour de France prowess in three decisive attacks and won two stages on his way to taking his overall victory at the 59th Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré.

INTERVIEW: BOB STAPLETON

The American boss of T-Mobile, Bob Stapleton, might be the most important voice in moving dope-tainted cycling onto a cleaner path. He talks frankly to VeloNews.

PROFILE: OSCAR FREIRE

The savvy Spanish sprinter looks ahead to more stage wins at the Tour de France — and a record fourth world road championship.
