Biography

Petacchi has been one of the ProTour’s most feared sprinters since he took more than four stages in each of the three grand tours in 2003. He turned pro with Scrigno in 1996. Fassa Bortolo picked him up in 2000 and built a team largely around him. He delivered in a big way, staying with the team until it folded (with many riders going into Milram) in 2006.
