Biography

Leipheimer is the most accomplished American stage racer active today. His career began Stateside in 1998 with Saturn. From there he jumped into the big leagues with the American U.S. Postal (2000-2001), the Dutch Rabobank (2002-2004) and the German Gerolsteiner (2005-2006) squads before returning to the former U.S. Postal squad then known as Discovery Channel (2007). Along with Tour de Franc champion Alberto Contador, Leipheimer was one of a few Discovery directors to follow their directuer sportif Johan Bruyneel to Astana for 2008.
