Bike giveaway at West Chester, PA's Iron Hill Criterium, July 11
PRESS RELEASE
Iron Hill Twilight Criterium to give away bikes to kids of all ages
WHAT: Iron Hill Twilight Criterium (and street festival)
WHO: Professional and amateur cyclists competing on an .8 mile Criterium course
WHERE: Downtown West Chester, PA
WHEN: Saturday, July 11, 2009
West Chester, Pennsylvania, June 11, 2009 – In addition to the excitement that this year’s Iron Hill Twilight Criterium will generate throughout downtown West Chester, race organizers have announced some bike giveaways that will add to the enthusiasm by giving away an adult-sized mountain bike, a boy’s and girl’s bike, plus two $300 gift certificates. The bikes and certificates are courtesy of HotFoot Cycles of West Chester and Fuji Bicycles. The deadline for entering both contests is July 10, 2009.
To become eligible to win a Fuji Mountain Bike, perfect for off-road biking as well as leisure riding, the public is invited to visit either Tolsdorf Oil Lube Express at 330 East Market Street, or Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant at 3 West Gay Street, to register to win. There is no purchase necessary. The winner will be announced immediately preceding the Pro-men’s event on race day.
To become eligible to win a kid’s bike and $300 gift certificates, all one has to do is visit the Philly Pretzel Factory where entries are available now through Monday, June 29, 2009. The store is located at 125 North Church Street in downtown West Chester. Parents and guardians who pre-register their child’s participation in the Kids’ Race will automatically be entered in the bike giveaway. Of course, there is no purchase necessary. Winners will be announced immediately following the Kids’ Race on July 11. Those pre-registering will receive a complimentary pretzel.
Entry forms are also available online at www.IronHillTwilightCriterium.com and those unable to register their child in the Kids’ Race in advance may do so in person the day of the event starting at 4 PM.
This year’s Kids’ Race will feature four age groups: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10. Last year, these friendly races featured a joyous cacophony of two- and three-wheel bikes as the children peddled fast and furious towards the finish line. Winning is of secondary importance in these races, as children discover for themselves the fun and adventure of competitive cycling, while basking in the cheers of their families and friends. Accordingly, all children will receive free prizes, including an official Iron Hill Twilight Criterium medal and a Philly Pretzel Factory soft pretzel.
Many other family-friendly activities will be going on throughout the day, including the Main Line Today Community Festival. This popular event is returning in a much expanded incarnation covering two locations: High Street between Gay and Market Streets and the Wachovia parking lot on Gay Street between High Street and Walnut. There the Festival will feature a “Kids’ Zone,” food stands, business bazaar and other fun activities. Additionally, the Market Street Block Party will also be held in conjunction with the bike race featuring music, food, and family-fun activities.
Of course, the focus of the day remains on the Fifth Annual Iron Hill Twilight Criterium itself, which once again promises non-stop pulse-pounding excitement. Each year the event’s importance increases, as the West Chester Iron Hill Twilight Criterium becomes more and more a harbinger of things to come in the USA CRITS Championship Series, the nationally promoted series of ten races throughout the United States. The Pro Men’s Criterium, the marquee event, is scheduled to conclude the day’s events with a start time of 7:45 PM. Current and former Olympic athletes and cyclists from around the world are expected again this year, eager to compete for $10,000 in prize money.
